The prison is the place of detention of several convicts and to punish these criminals are deprived of their freedoms. Many people find that they have to be severely punished for stealing, killing or murdering others, and they complain that they should be treated with great humanity.
A considerable number of people find that the convicts must be mistreated, the victims of the crimes are the first people concerned by this choice. They have suffered so much and they want the culprits to suffer the unfortunate consequences of their deeds and actions. These poor victims live in conditions of depression and bitterness and to free themselves from this agony, they want to take revenge on those condemned, they believe that by inflicting all types of violence and torture on these prisoners they will feel excruciating pain and that is how they will regret their actions and will be an example to those who wish to perform bloody and inhuman acts.
However, other people categorically oppose this type of punishment, freedom is one of the crucial rights of man and the deprivation of this right is in itself a great punishment for the prisoner. We forget that a prisoner is a human being who has feelings, a self-esteem, a dignity and lives in the hope that one day, when he comes out, he will be able to start a new life.
Therefore, despising or mistreating them will only complicate matters, and their repentance will turn into hatred and terrible and frightful acts.
It is true that convicts committed horrendous crimes and that victims in suffer but you have to be aware that mistreating them will only amplify the damage.
In my opinion, it would be more useful to treat their psychological disorders and to
to prepare to reintegrate social life instead of striving to abuse and hurt them, and the prison is the right choice to correct the prisoners in order to help them to start a new life with a new chance.
I am confident that a good education and a security policy based on prevention can significantly reduce the crime rate in our society.
